A Resurgence of Imagination

My work is about imagination and sustainability. The remedy to environmental crisis, from mass extinction, to biodiversity loss, plastic pollution and climate change, all resides within human awareness, not only 'out there' in 'the environment'. We need to understand the nature of imagination on this planet, because the loss and neglect human imagination on our planet, mirrors the annihilation of ecologies and the destruction of nature.

About Sally and EIE

Hi, I'm Sally. I've been an environmental educator for 20 years in schools, environmental organisations and local governments and a background in visual and performing arts. This website is a landing page for my work as an educator, researcher, storyteller, creative and consultant. I design and deliver quality educational experiences for people and groups of all ages. I facilitate collaborative processes, build partnerships and deliver powerful programs focussing on inspiring new ways of thinking, speaking and doing for win win sustainability outcomes.

Blog

The Blog, The Environmental Imagination: I make important connections between human imagination and our environmental reality to better understand sustainability and get to the heart of the cause of our environmental crisis.

Research

My PhD research investigated what understanding sustainability involves, through sitting in classrooms and interviewing successful expert environmental educators in Primary, Secondary and Tertiary learning environments. I found out about the essential nature and importance of imagination in understanding this huge and complex issue of our time.

The Environmental Imagination Map

The Sustainability Map is a thinking tool for sustainability. It makes sustainability accessible to any topic, issue or discipline. This simple diagram came out research and facilitating sustainability in schools over 8 years. It maps the thinking / imagining needed to truly understand the concepts of sustainability and make crucial connections between our self and our world.

My work uplifts people and communities through co-creating the essential learnings of sustainability, and using imagination to make meaningful connections between our self and our world, the personal with the planetary.
